Presidential Address
Fellow Ann Arbor Jaycees, Well, we’re a quarter of the way through the year already. It’s hard for me to believe! The beginning of the Jaycee year sometimes seems thin, project-wise, compared to the rest of the year but believe me, your Board has been working their tails off getting ready for the busy times to come. However, we HAVE had a number of successful projects go off successfully so far! It seems like we have about a quarter of the Chapter out to most projects, which is great! The Food Club has had fantastic turnout, even through some bad weather! The Superbowl Party, Ski Trip and Belly Dancing all had around 20-30 people attend! And the Easter Egg Scramble was a great success too! The busy part of our year is still to come. I want to focus on our many fundraisers for a sec. We’ll need EVERYONES help at these upcoming events. At Grad Staffing in April we get paid by the number of people who show up to help, so please volunteer your time. Then, June 1st, there’s Taste of Ann Arbor, one of our best fundraisers and a truly fun time to boot! We’ve also got the new Cedar Point fundraiser set for mid-June. Then July hits and we’ll be busier than ever with the Summer Carnival, Rolling Sculpture and a new Art Fair fundraiser! These projects fund our other projects throughout the year, so they’re very important! But it’s not all “work” and no play! We’ve got tons of other projects running! We’ll be starting up our Softball/Kickball team and making up Warm Fuzzies for the unfortunate kids in Mott Children’s Hospital. We’ll be learning gun safety at Fun With Guns III! There’s a Pistons Party, a High Ropes Course and on and on…! Check out the list of projects on our newly designed web site! When you look at that list of upcoming projects and say to yourself “Oooh…I’d like to go to that”, please also consider helping out the committee running the project. Contact the VP or Director in charge of the project and volunteer a little of your time. That is TRUELY where you get the most out of your Jaycee experience! It’s all about making new friends, sharing new experiences and learning new skills that make the experience all the richer! President Scott
